Pharmacy Referral Coordinator

The Pharmacy Referral Coordinator  will monitor daily operations of the Pharmacy Referral Coordinator team to process referrals within designated timelines by health plan and line of business. This position is also responsible for assisting the clinical Pharmacy Manager in updating the internal job aid for the referral team and identifying & implementing ideas for process improvement & efficiency optimization.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Reviews authorization request for injectable/infused medications including chemo drugs, diabetic supplies and insulin pumps/supplies using internal job aids as well as health plan and vendor contracts to ensure accuracy and cost-effective measures are adhered to. 
  • ​Maintains referral pods and queues to meet internal turn - around - time goals per department standards.
  • ​Conducts monthly internal audits for pharmacy referral coordinators and review findings with individual coordinators.
  • ​Identify areas that require additional trainings on existing, new or revised processes, development training materials, and conduct training sessions.
  • ​Assists with claims reviews upon request by the Claims Department. 
  • ​Provides assistance in setting temporary contracts for new providers by obtaining all necessary information and forward the Contracting Department.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma required.

Minimum Experience: Prior authorization experience is preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Active Pharmacy technician license is required. PTCB/national pharmacy technician license is preferred.
