Pharmacy Coordinator Manager

Pharmacy Coordinator Manager has the main responsibility providing oversight in tandem with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager on daily workflows handled by all pharmacy coordinators in prior authorization (utilization management/UM) and non-UM related programs. Develops performance goals for each functional team within the Pharmacy Department and providing guidance on meeting individual goals with monitoring in place. Provides standardized trainings on a regular basis. Creates and maintains policies & procedures and standard operating procedures. Provides monthly/quarterly reports for each functional unit.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Ensures the team: meets internal and health plan compliance guidelines for turn-around-time; adheres to internal job aids when processing referrals; meets production goals; identifies cost savings opportunities; processes pharmacy authorization requests with accuracy per health plan contracts and various federal/state/health plan UM guidelines. 
  • Coordinate with staff pharmacists and other teams of Medical Management (e.g., Case Management, Disease Management) to ensure designated clinical services are provided to members and providers.  Ensure the staff coordinators meet production and efficiency goals for respective areas through ongoing monitoring and training processes.
  • Ensure the coordinators meet production & efficiency goals for targeted STAR/HEDIS measures to be in alignment with department goals.  Monitor workflows and staff performance to identify and implement new strategies to improve current performance.  Track department’s performance by health plan and provide trainings as needed.


Minimum Education: College graduation is required.

Minimum Experience: Prior staff management experience is required. Managed care experience is preferred.
